Combining the noise of shoegaze with melodic pop punk and a very lo-fi aesthetic, Los Angeles band No Age has gained fame in America and Europe thanks to constant touring and a compilation of vinyl releases “Weirdo Rippers”, released last year on Fat Cat records. However, on May 6th, the duo will release their debut album proper “Nouns” on Sub Pop records.
 “Eraser,” the first single off “Nouns” is a good example of No Age’s style. A noisily distorted guitar loops psychedelically, but the effect is more comforting than agitating. Strumming guitar chords and minimal drumming are added to the mix, before without warning the drumming and guitar playing burst into feedback, obscuring tuneful vocals. No Age do not have many fans in China yet, but they fit well with noisy yet catchy sounds of many Chinese indie bands, and are beginning to attract listeners, including Zhang Shouwang of Carsick Cars.
